What Can I Make With the Fabric I Have?
Have a bundle of fat quarters, a few yards of coordinating fabric, a jelly roll or a panel—but no idea what to make?
You’re in the right place!
We’ve organized some of our quilt patterns by their main fabric requirements so you can quickly find a project that works with the fabric you already have. You can also choose a pattern first and then visit the Heartland Quilt Supply Co. Fat Quarter Bar to build your own bundle.
Please review the complete fabric requirements on each product page before beginning. Many patterns also require background, border, accent, binding or backing fabric.

18 Fat Quarters
Looking for a larger fat-quarter project?
Sock It to Me uses 18 fat quarters plus ⅔ yard for binding and finishes at approximately 60" x 73".
Three One-Yard Cuts
Three-yard quilts make choosing fabric simple. Select three coordinating one-yard cuts and turn them into a complete quilt top.
The three one-yard cuts are generally used for the quilt top, borders and binding. Backing fabric is purchased separately.
Five One-Yard Cuts
Have five one-yard cuts you want to use together?
The Fabulous 5-Yard Quilt Pattern Book includes eight different quilt designs, each made with five coordinating one-yard cuts.
Layer Cakes and 10-Inch Squares
Layer cakes contain coordinating 10-inch squares from the same fabric collection. They’re a great choice when you want lots of different prints without cutting them all yourself.

Remember to check whether the pattern requires additional background, border or binding yardage.
Jelly Rolls and 2½-Inch Strips
Have a jelly roll or a bundle of 2½-inch strips?
The Lady uses thirty-nine 2½-inch strips, 1 yard of background fabric and ⅝ yard for binding. The finished quilt measures approximately 54" x 72".
Fabric Panels
Let a favorite fabric panel become the star of your quilt.
Drifting begins with a panel approximately 44" x 28" and adds coordinating fabrics around it. The quilt finishes at approximately 48" x 64", or 57" x 73" with the optional border.
